Choosing the right KPIs is easy. Looking at them on schedule is the work.
Read articleMost owner led businesses get compliance from their accountant and very little else. Debbie Hylander built her practice on a different premise: medical practices, real estate investors, and professional services firms deserve a financial partner who actively drives profitability, not one who only files the returns.
Debbie Hylander is the managing member of Hylander CPA Firm and brings more than thirty years of accounting depth to the businesses she serves. Her tax practice covers federal and multi state returns for individuals, partnerships, S and C corporations, with specialty work in rental real estate, like kind exchanges, and high net worth planning. Her firm goes past the books to drive measurable profitability, backed by a team of three financial professionals.
Debbie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Christian Brothers University and is a member of the AICPA and the Tennessee Society of CPAs. She moved into fractional financial leadership because she watched too many medical practice and real estate owners settle for compliance when their businesses needed someone working on profitability with them.
Ashley joined Hylander CPA Firm in February 2017 as an intern. She began as the firm’s bookkeeper and is now a tax specialist. Her responsibilities include building client relationships, tax preparation, and managing the firm’s bookkeeping department. Ashley earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management at Christian Brothers University.
With over twenty years of experience in the accounting industry, Nicole is a dedicated bookkeeper and accountant committed to helping businesses achieve financial clarity and long-term success. She specializes in accounting and payroll services, providing accurate, reliable financial support that lets business owners focus on growing their operations with confidence. Nicole joined Hylander CPA Firm in February 2026.
Helen joined Hylander CPA Firm in February 2015. Her duties include managing client relationships and communications as well as the office and the accountants in it. Helen’s thirty years of experience in customer service and her genuine desire to please others have helped her grow into her role. Helen received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Memphis.
The work starts with a thorough read of the financial state of the business: bookkeeping accuracy, reporting quality, cash on hand, and where tax exposure sits today. The point is a clear baseline that surfaces profit leaks and the improvements that should land first.
From the assessment, Debbie installs the financial systems the business has been missing: cash flow forecasts, profitability dashboards, reporting cadence, and a working tax plan. The full range of fractional CFO services gets shaped to what this business actually needs.
Debbie stays embedded as the financial leader of the business: monthly reviews, quarterly forecast refreshes, and direct access when a real decision is on the table. The engagement is ongoing and accountable, not a project that ends with a report.
Debbie works as a peer to the owner, not an outside vendor delivering quarterly deliverables. Tax decisions, cash decisions, and profitability moves all happen in the same conversation. See how an engagement runs day to day for the working rhythm.
